Karin Campbell -- Project 1

Karin Campbell -- Project 1
found text

The first one is a list. It's a sort of poem that I found on the street one day. I picked it up, It reads

AW
cheese
cows
SUV
I believe
George
fun
Doll
skinless
.

I think what I would like to do is to write the words on a wall somewhere within the space, but also to write the words individually on small cards to be presented to people as they entered the exhibtion. Somewhere along the line they might find their word within the "poem".

testing ambiguity

I don't know how to take this piece, I like the idea of a found list of evocative words, but I wonder where the associations are supposed to take me. If you are a writer, words take on their own prescence, but these plain words are not the seductive kinds that poets use, and they resonate with political overtones, at least I believe they would to a New York art going crowd. As a test, I split them into 3 categories:

Food issues, natural vs. processed food, vegtarians, soda,
(AW, cheese, cows)
the religious, W, pollution, gas guzzlers (SUV, George, I believe)
women, nakedness, children (fun, doll, skinless)

Do others have completely different associations?

food

i can see only
cheese
cow
skinless
in these words.

words change a lot in meaning depends on each person and their back ground.

so how you play with?

Shopping List Found!

Oh, thank god! You found my shopping list on the street. I am so happy it is safe. I won't go into details about some of the items on that list...but let me tell you this: George is a very famous Hollywood actor that rings my phone off the hook day and night, and skinless is how I like my chicken. I'll leave the rest up to you to decode.
