Karin CampbellKarin Campbell -- HorusHorus is a projection of the projection of the shadows of pigeons walking back and forth on top of a roof. The shadows appear on an adjacent wall of corrugated iron (just like the ceiling by the way of the Fluxus Factory). Now that I have seen the space again I think that the wall space right above the windows in the front of the building would be great. It has the right proportion. I want to at least double the width of the video so that it would fill the space above the windows. The shadows of the pigeons become like judges.. On Karin Campbell, Elodie Huet, Eric BaudartLook at Karin Campbell’s video projection. What do you see immediately and what do you see eventually? What’s closer, your mind or your eye? And which do you chose to trust? Which lends itself to your whim? The shadows you see ask for your interpretation. The shadows of the birds become bigger and more human. The shadows allow you this necessary step of remove to see through to your imagination. But what happens if you find yourself abandoned by a piece of work? Find the words “Touch Me†written in Braille with nails on the wall. What is more isolating than sensory deprivation or more paralyzing than harbored desires? Can irony really appeal to your senses? Consider Eric Baudart’s video, Pump. How different is the effect of a surprising observation vs. the presentation of a sequestered idea? catalog/essays | Elodie Huet | Eric Baudart | Karin Campbell | Mira Dancy | login or register to post comments
Karin Campbell -- Project 3And I have one more piece which I think might be fun to do.: We could rent a water cooler and on the paper cups have stamped this text: Hold some cold water in your mouth An instruction piece, if you will, in the manner of a Yoko Ono. And everybody could take away their own cup! People love to get something free! Karin Campbell -- Project 1The first one is a list. It's a sort of poem that I found on the street one day. I picked it up, It reads AW I think what I would like to do is to write the words on a wall somewhere within the space, but also to write the words individually on small cards to be presented to people as they entered the exhibtion.
